New Public Health Measures Update - Nov 25
NOVEMBER 25 LEAGUE UPDATE:
Good Afternoon CWSA Members,
Yesterday, the Government of Alberta announced new mandatory public health measures that will have a direct impact on your Indoor 2020-21 season.
New Measures at a Glance
Unless otherwise stated, the following mandatory restrictions come into effect Nov. 24 and will be in place for at least three weeks.
In light of these new health measures, we are providing the following updates for our members on the status of the indoor season:
- League play will not resume before the end of 2020
Update on the payment deadline for the final instalment of league fees
- We are now planning for a re-start of games in January. The first round of the Indoor 2020-21 season is effectively cancelled, and we will look to resume and play out the remaining two rounds of games as originally planned. These plans will depend entirely on the health measures put in place by the Alberta government and the approval of Alberta Soccer.
Team credits for games not played
- The final instalment payment deadline has been postponed. Any team who has not already paid their league fees in full is not required to make their payment today. We will update you when we have a new deadline date for the final payment.
- CWSA will reimburse teams for games not played. At this point, and without a firm re-start date for league play it is still premature to determine the amount that teams will receive back as a reimbursement for games lost this season (as this will depend on the total number of games lost). We intend to issue refunds for all games lost, and/or we will adjust the remaining amount owing for your team in your final payment of league fees.
We will continue to keep you informed as we wait for guidance from the authorities. By mid-December we expect to have a better understanding of where Alberta, and particularly Calgary, is with flattening the curve. We are remaining optimistic that we will be able to offer partial programming for your 2020/21 Indoor Season once the current restrictions have been eased and we ask that you continue to be patient as we navigate our way through these very dynamic and stressful times.
Our main focus is still to ensure everyone stays safe, but we want you to know that as soon as we have been approved to get back to playing, we will be ready to get you and your team back on the field as soon as possible.
The CWSA Office is now closed to the public, except by appointment. To reach our staff we ask that you please communicate with us by email.

We appreciate your support and as always, we hope that you all #StaySafe and #StayHealthy
